EARPLUGS dedicated to my next door blogger

Yep. I bought a pair of them. I now wear them all the time. Everywhere. Yesterday, I walked to Beano's (worst coffee ever), and I wore them. It was fun. I could hear nothing but my breathing. It sounds really nasty. All the outside world seemed to me like watching a movie on mute. For some reason, I saw everything in slow motion. It was good.

I never thought I would buy ear-plugs. But here I am. Buying and wearing them in public. I wear them at work too. It filters all the unneeded sounds and voices you dont want to hear. It makes you focus on yourself. Make you KNOW that you are alive. Breathing. Breathing for yourself not for others. The best part is when you burb, talk to yourself, swallow your saliva, your stomach roars, all these sounds get amplified, and they are entertaining. Breathing sound is really important. Indication to the state. Try it.

My point is, 'Welcome to my world.' There are lots going on inside and we do need to listen. This body is screaming for attention, so please give it its pleasure, attention and love it.

(Ah, if you have 'vibration' in your cell. Do that. The best option that goes with the earplugs.)

I was in Beano's last night! Good salad.

Didn't hear your inside though.

Coffee is horrible. Ambiance is like sitting in a hospital entrance. Waitress are not that professional. Not so clean outfit. My waitress has a weird hair colour, and style. All this was enough to keep my little weswas going.

la'a, are we talking about the same place? The beano's I'm talking about has guy waiters only (atleast when I go). I hate the cigarette smoke there.

BTW, I don't know what my mobile sounds like. Always on vibra! This ear plugs thing would suit me well. I need to try my breathing mask again to go along with it.

Dont know except the one close to GSC--sheikh al-marsafi st.

yeah, that's the one.

Brilliant idea Haal. I haven't tried ear plugs although I suspect I would if I came back to live in Egypt.

I plug my ears with my headphones at work because I can't stand the noise, the consistent reminder that I have to share so much space with so many human beings.

And yes, with earplugs/muffs on, you become the center of the universe.

Hellme, being the center of the universe for sure is a good feeling. Always!

Plus earplugs work for short-temper people like myself. If someone said something nasty to me, at work specifically, I just pretend I didnt hear, and smash his head later.

Mo, where you the guy wearing a grey sweater and sitting near the window and holding a knife! Boy, you looked so depressed.

haha .. cool I thought once about doing this. Did people notice you wearing those earplugs ? What type of earplugs did you use, the new foam ones ?
haal said…
Who cares! But sure they notice. I have the cheapest ones. 2 earplugs connected together via with a thread. I like that I can just leave them hanging on my shirt. So if my short hair is still hiding them while in my ears, they can see them hanging, and know that I want them to shut up. How cool is that?!

Sounds like we will start a new cool trend!

ouch .. those are the most annoying types. You need to try the foam ones.

Anyways, I think you just started a new meme. I guess I will have to try and see what will 2moro feel like with earplugs.

No Haal, I was wearing a white t-shirt on khaki pants, sitting with a friend who was trying to avoid me falling depressed right into his laps. I was hiding the knife, didn't want to scare the guy.

I hate Beano's.. Went there once, and it was one of the worst days I've had.

Anyways, a nice idea that of the earplugs.. But it just triggered something in my mind.

It gave me the thought that people don't appreciate what they have except when they lose it. I won't have said that except after experiencing that myself.

It's not actually me who lost my hearing ability, but it's someone in my family.. And I can tell you how much pain that problem is causing him.

Some people are using earplugs, others are using ear pieces to be able to hear.

Weird humans, aren’t we?!!

I used to have to wear ear plugs at work - UGH! Will never wear them again. Now I just wear a t-shirt that says:
"I'm not being rude. You're just insignificant."
Works very well.

No, Moonlight, I am not weird. And human is not weird too. And please enough with changing everything to 'guilt' feeling attitude.

Someone wants to wear an earplug, what does this have to do with 'not appreciating' what I have.
haal said…
....and why not say the same thing about Diet!

it is because we appreciate our hearing so much that we want to wear an earplug, to preserve it from all the sound pollution and foul voices.

Well haal, I didn't mean to be offending at all.. On the contrary, I liked the idea very much.. I was thinking about it yesterday, and told a friend that I'm considering buying those earplugs.

I was just thinking out loud.. that was it :)

No please do think out loud. I was not offended. I wish someone would actually think that this earplugs idea sucks! :)

Actually it DOES suck.

Buy an iPod - that's what Apple made them for. And I mean, judging by the attire I've read about here (khakis and t-shirts and grey sweaters, and Beanos (where's Costa)), iPods are right up everyone's alley. I'm too proud to give in to Apple, although if I got it for my birthday, I sure wouldn't mind.

Besides - if you don't want to listen to music, stick the slick white earphones in without the slick white box with the slick rotary dial Apple stole from Synaptics (ok, commissioned).

I'm sorry...I'll take this rant back to my blog. I'm having a creative block and thought I'd troll.

...mumble...mumble.

Thank you. It does suck especially if you enjoy answering people who bug you on the street. This thing actually makes you go home feel like a chicken.

I have Apple. It is my favourite. I cant stand--what is the other brand?--it is too Adamie for my taste.

Naah, I still like the idea, even over iPods. Actually, I prefer if everyone can just be quite, instead of me having to wear earplugs.

I think you guys need to try Bose headphones. You have no idea how good they are. It is the best in the world.

A pair of those with an Ipod. You are in a different world.

Nothing bothers me more than bad coffee I hate it!

Earplugs are cool. I needed it the last 4 days. Believe me. I actually needed to wear 5 of them at the same time. Some people just dont get it, the concept of silence that is.

I usually use amplified music and those huge headphones to block the world out... I guess earplugs are just as good!!

Haal

If u kindly tell me how to get these earplugs, it'd be truely appreciated.

U know I live outside Cairo & I tried hard to find them here in my town but in vain..:(

So where did u get them from??
haal said…
Shex,
You can get these earplugs from almost any pharmacy in cairo. I got mine from a nearby pharmacy in Zamalek. I am sure Seif, or 'ali et 'ali have them. Mine were the cheapest ones. Just plastic with a thread joining them. There are more fancy ones at Seif's pharmacy.

Hard for me to imagine that you cant find them in your town. What is the name of your town? What do you do there? I am just curious to know what people who live outside cairo do?

Thanx for the quick response.. :)

I live in Fayoum... I suppose ppl here don't feel like plugging thier ears. They kinda enjoy the noise upto an amazing extent..:D
